Pleased to see this on Chateauonline, having enjoyed René Bouvier’s regular Gevrey before. Having said that I disagree with their guidance that this is drinkable now – I’d favour more their “at peak in 2012” advice (so I’ve 2 more bottles to test the evolution). The first of 3 Pinot Noirs over dinner at Giles’ with the Goughs and Jenny. Clear deep, cherry-red with only the earliest sign of garnet at the rim. Only moderate intensity nose (is this “closed”) but with piercing red fruit core evident, wrapped with some cinnamon and paprika spicy toasty oak. But on the palate, the tannins were too prominent – they need time to integrate and leave the silkiness I’d expect. Fairly good concentration suggests it should survive ageing. Let’s see
