So, the day after Princess’ wedding, recovering with a whole roast pig (!), and as the dregs drifted away, the hard core of family plus hangers-on (like me) were left. And a guy called Bill, off of Heartbeat broke this out of his stash in Paul’s Dad’s (very impressive) cellar. And a very pleasant example of what Puligny has to offer – just very easy drinking – in balance and with good length. One pity, the second bottle was noticeably better (1st slightly corked?). Pale lemon-gold, with narrow watery rim. Mid-intensity pear and melon nose with some nuttiness. Medium-full bodied, smooth, buttery pear flavour with a medium-long nutty, toasty finish. Moderate acidity kept the balance.
