Top end of the Bodegas Trapiche range from Argentina, that was available in the Diageo staff shop, so I thought I’d test. Deep yellow-gold colour, with narrow rim. Pronounced nose – initially of burnt newspaper, as Jack noted – then developing into char-grilled, buttered corn-on-the-cob (heavy malolactic!). Full-bodied, medium acidity, rounded buttery palate, with more popcorn flavour. Not bad overall, and went fairly well with the chargrilled tiger prawn salad, dressed with olive oil and lemon.
