And this was the 8th and last wine in the POTG blind tasting. I completely missed this one – it was soft, yet had some cigar box notes. I though it must be a Merlot-dominated Bordeaux blend. Sadly not – Cabernet Sauvignon is a seasoning, admittedly, but the base grape is Sangiovese. Anyway, really nice and supple. Will mature. Deep black-garnet colour. Red fruit notes with the cigar box. Medium bodied, but svelte and nicely balanced. Medium-low tannin with ‘correct’ acidity, suggesting some life going forward.
