A birthday present for SJ, since she likes Meursault so much! A bit of a risk to try a late ‘90s white Burgundy, but it was the only matured one I could find. Luckily it was a really nice wine – albeit coming to the end of its good life (shortening a bit). Deep gold. Mid-intensity, developed nose – corn on the cob, toasty, buttery hazelnuts – really nutty; when cold, a bit of pear & mango. Crisp acidity – lemon juice and mango, with minerality, and hints of buttery nuttiness. Medium length.
