Having had a 1995-disgorged 1979 RD, this Grande Année sibling outdid it comfortably. Wow. Such aromatic complexity that just steadily gave up different layers: toasty caramel notes to begin with, that developed into hazelnut aromatics. Still some aromatic fruit notes – apricot etc. A few touches of oxidation, but only mildly so. Still a good spritz on the palate, but soft. And exceptionally long. Lovely.
