I’m glad I waited a few years before cracking this, to ensure it had evolved to the point of enjoyment – and a great way to kick-off Christmas 2006. Dark, deep black-garnet core developing to a wide brick-brown rim. Intense, moderately evolved nose blending prune and caramel, with hints of cocoa powder and leather evolution. On the palate, nice texture, with integrated and matured tannins. Notable acidity to give juicy backbone. Core of fruit – dark, slightly smoky fruit – with cocoa and spice. Good, quite silky length with a pepper-spice finish.
