The bloody, gamey notes on this, coupled with plenty of peppery, spicy aromatics made this a decent enough match for a game stew on New Year’s Eve. A pretty good wine overall, with well-concentrated, slightly sweet fruit on the palate, just showing through more pepperiness. A slightly rustic edge to the tannins, suggesting the best ripe fruit went into the Prestige bottling. But tasty enough. Will be interesting try again over the next couple of years.
