Picked up en route to the Languedoc, going via Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Quite by chance Mum & I ran into the Fete de la Veraison that weekend, and I picked this up there by happy (and enjoyable) coincidence. Tasted there, and confirmed as nice back home. Mid-gold fading to broad watery rim. Bouquet of passion fruit, banana and above all mango, touched with some honeyed and wooded oak. Pronounced nose, even when chilled. Flavours of fresh mango, with medium body, medium acidity and medium-long length. Some hints of “butter biscuits” in the finish. Pleasant match with pan-fried chicken breast. My first Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc, and a good addition to interesting whites!
