I thought I’d randomly open the first of this case, since other 2009s I’ve recently had have been very appealing. This too is showing similar character, though without overt ‘fatness’ or too ripe fruit. Elegant – beautifully supple, but still with plenty of balancing, bright, acidic freshness. Pale rose-ruby with garnet glints. Pronounced scented strawberry and cranberry – almost orange peel. Clove and cinnamon. Hint of earth and stony mineral. Attractively scented, with a ripe touch. Crisp acidity. Cranberry, red cherry and just ripe strawberry. Juicy. Light-bodied. Silky tannins. Touch of flint and stone to the medium-long finish.
