A surprise finale to Richard Hemming’s JR.com Riesling blind tasting – a classically-styled Beerenauslese (albeit more fruit-forward), but from South Africa. Nicely-balanced acidity and sweetness, with some quince and ginger spice notes of botrytis. 9.2% ABV and 154 g/L, but brisk acidity to balance it all out. Mid-gold. Stone fruit beneath the clear botrytis character. Youthful. Long.
