Not quite as beautifully-balanced as the 2010 La Tour Blanche – which just had a touch more acidity – but showing the quality of the vintage. Like La Tour Blanche, this was characterised by pâtisserie flavours, though more like an apricot and vanilla tart. Mid-deep gold. Creamy new oak and vanilla, with peachy patisserie notes. Lots of ginger spice emerges, with botrytis fungal notes. On warming, gets Sémillon waxiness. Spicy ginger over apricot and vanilla fruit on the palate, with lots of creamy oak. Spicy ginger finish. Unctuous, but ripe and powerful fruit. Young.
