Also during audit, I finally opened this wooden box, bought 11 years before, en primeur. From an off-vintage, this was broadly worth waiting for. While mid-weight, with bright acidity, this had little obvious greenness. Mid-deep garnet. Relatively intense cedar, pencil, clay earthiness, some oak-smoke, tobacco and fresh leather tertiary complexity. Underlying fresh blackcurrant. Balsamic touches. On the palate, crisp, savoury blackcurrant, still quite furim, ‘furry’ tannins. Bright acidity. Medium body. Quite firm, but svelte. Gravelly mineral. Drink now to 5 years.
