Whilst auditing my entire wine stack, I remembered I had 3 of these – my ‘other’ 2009 Beaujolais. Quite gamey in maturity, but with some perfumed red cherry fruit that ultimately was a little like Etna Rosso somehow. Pale ruby colour – still relatively youthful (though Gamay tends to be more purple naturally). Slightly, almost reductive, gamey, meaty note over cinnamon toast. Wild bramble and red cherry notes. Slatey mineral. Savoury, juicy cherry fruit. Some cranberry touches. Mineral savouriness on the palate, with light tannic grip emerging at the moderately long finish. Not bad.
