As elegant as its packaging. Napa, yes, but in harmony and refined. Retasted in October, it was the same. Deep ruby, with a narrow, purple-tinged rim. Quite pronounced black fruit nose, with sweet spice, cedar, oak-spice and a dusty note (Rutherford!). Lots of very fine new oak, giving cappuccino rather than vanilla. Smoky mineral and black tea hints. Sweet briary blackcurrant fruit. Some black cherry. Ripe fruit, yet refined. A little fuller than medium-bodied. Fruit-led, but with vanilla smoothness and gravelly mineral. Quite firm, but very fine tannin. Long, perfumed finish.
