One from Princess’ Dad’s cellar, bought by the Club. Almost deep garnet, with a narrow garnet-brick rim. Dusty, earthy, tertiary notes of bacon, cedar-wood and graphite, followed by sweet spice and chilli hints, then dried herb. Complex. Faint hints of red cherry fruit in the background. Rich-ish, medium+ body, medium acidity, medium, slightly chalky tannins still. Cherry fruit just still there, with minerally, smoky overtones. Medium length at best, and now fading. Nice, but old. Was ’96 a riper year in the Left Bank.
