Served a little cold at Boxing Day lunch with Andy, Sarah, Janet and Steve. But once it warmed up, it hit its stride pretty well, with a bit less of a hollowed mid-palate than a first bottle. Once feature though, were slightly drying tannins that emerge through the finish – will this be better in 5 years. Deep ruby-garnet wit ha narrow rim. Medium+ notes of black cherry, liquorice, cassis liqueur, and some meaty overtones. Some spice, but not dominant. Rich, sweet fruit entry – black cherry and liquorice. Full-bodied, medium acidity and those medium+ tannins through the medium+ length, drying finish. Good, though not as great as its reputation. Bottle 3 perhaps?
