Really annoyingly, lost almost half a bottle, messing up decanting this from its heavy sediment. Anyway, perhaps not the greatest bottle of this wine, but still good. Medium garnet, with a broad brick rim. Medium+ intensity nose of baked earth, red cherries, tar hints, sweet cinnamon spice, stewed wild strawberry, and some meaty hints. Medium+ bodied, medium acidity, subtle, ripe, matured, medium tannins. Just missing a touch of length and weight to be a great wine. Elegant and enjoyable though. Savoury, meaty palate, with some sweet red fruit in the background. Perhaps tasted a day too old? Will definitely need to retaste with bottles 2 and 3!
