Had this with Princess and a crowd in POTG Bow Lane, at Paul’s choice. Another example of Marchesi di Grésy’s good work. A complex, quite structured, but not overdone Barbera. Ruby with some garnet. Mid depth. Subtle blend of clove and toasty oak notes, with just a hint of cocoa. Clean red cherry flavours, well balanced acidity & ripe tannins lending good (not overdone) structure. Decent concentration, with touches of both liquorice and meaty notes to add savoury complexity. Preferred this to Alfa Crux’s more jammy, meaty tones.
