Anne-Marie, SJ and I had a roast lamb dinner together, so I served this ‘almost’ good wine from my Hors Concours case (good / great producer; moderate vintage quality). It was enjoyable, with well-matured, almost silky tannins, and refreshing medium body, but at the end of its life: aromatics primarily of the cigar box & light smoky variety (very savoury) with little fruit left. Good, but not great. Good with food.
