Brought for comedy value (awful vintage; moderate quality producer; random provenance), and drunk after the 1982, but surprisingly not too bad at all (though definitely going, despite being 9 years the younger) – far better than an equally random 1986 Château d’Aydie Madiran also supplied by John from his late uncle’s random stash. Acidity was certainly the key structural feature of this relatively light Margaux, with flavours dominated by cigar box maturity. Some fading fruit nevertheless still there. Not great, but amusing, and drinkable.
