2nd Boxing Day Burgundy and the first of a brace of Volnays. I think this is slightly atypical, but not sure. Mid-light depth garnet core with a medium brick-rosy rim. Overall slightly sweetened character on nose and palate. Raspberry fruit nose I think, but with something elusive wrapped around – something not unlike a white-board marker. OK nevertheless. Only a gentle grip at the finish, suggesting maturity. Notable but not aggressive acidity gives a pleasing structure. Quite silky, but fresh red fruit flavours. Pretty persistent finish. Overall pleasurable, but slightly unusual. Had to choose the bottle with the comedy label in Dublin Berry Bros!
