One of a couple of Zins that Ben picked up in a Grafton Street wine shop – a good opportunity to expand my Zin experience. A lighter-weight Zin than I’ve previously encountered. Deep ruby, mid-depth colour core, with a narrow garnet rim. Intense nose of dry cherries (?) but particularly tobacco, roast meat and red chilli flesh notes, rounded-out with some cocoa. Cherry and raspberry flavours, soft tannin, some acidity, medium length, but with a slightly weird aftertaste – reminiscent of Sellotape! Overall not bad, and the bottle went easily – but the Ravenswood was better.
