My second Slovene wine, courtesy again of Peter Polajnar. A particularly unusual bottle, since it was the Slovene equivalent of a German Auslese with a proportion of residual sugar. Green-ish pale colour. White flower aromas. First flavour is slightly sweet representing the residual sugar, but balanced by a minerally acidity. At the finish, the flavour becomes dry – distinctly grapefruit to my mind. It was shortly after that I remembered that this was, in fact, Sauvignon Blanc! Good VFM.
