This is almost the epitome of a study wine – interesting to have tasted and drunk, academically, but not necessarily my favourite wine – however well-made. Also interesting that it improved by becoming more harmonious and aromatically balanced, over 3 days. When first opened, I found it hard to get past the overt, slightly waxy, oak-led nose, with coconut (suggesting American oak). But after 3 days the nose was toasty oak over sweet blackberry, with caramel, coconut hints and some smoke hints too. Sweet blackberry fruit, medium+ body, but then notable (added?) juicy acidity. Medium, fine-grained tannin. A little simple, and not much more than medium length. Deep ruby, with a hint of rim garnet.
